Amy Vaughan

Amy Vaughan, OTD, OTR/L, BCP, is a nationally registered and Missouri state licensed occupational therapist. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and has practiced as a pediatric therapist for 15 years. She has worked in hospital-based pediatric settings, school-based intervention, school team consultation, and private clinic practice. She has volunteered in hippotherapy (horseback riding therapy) programs and developed a community program for Parent and Infant Pool Exercise (PIPE).

Amy consults and provides training instruction to therapy and teaching teams both for school districts and for out-patient clinic practices. She also works with Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri, where she serves on the Autism Center’s Assessment team and has led the development of Burrell’s occupational and speech therapy outpatient services. She also serves on Burrell’s strength-based assessment development team.

Amy received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy with honors from the University of Kansas in 1997. In 2016, she completed her Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Amy is certified in the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT). She is also certified to use Interactive Metronome tools as well as Integrated Listening Systems and is certified in early intervention using the DIR © (Developmental, Individual Differences, Relationship-Based) method of treatment.

 Bringing over 15 years of experience in sensory processing work and occupational therapy intervention for children, Amy has trained hundreds of individuals in pediatric therapy theory and practical application through seminars, taught a college-level pediatrics course, and has served as a former module trainer for the Missouri First Steps Program. In 2011, Amy was recognized by the Springfield (Missouri) Business Journal for both their 40 Under 40 Award and their 20 Most Influential Women in Southwest Missouri Award.

Amy’s most treasured accomplishment and blessing in life is her family. She is the wife of John, an amazing partner in this fun and crazy life.  She is the mother of four children who are her delight and inspiration. Amy is passionate about  living  life to the fullest, children, helping others, sand volleyball and reading.
